Outstanding Cool Climate Wines from the Vale of York
Nestled in the Vale of York, Dunesforde is a four-acre, boutique vineyard established by the Townsend family. Working in harmony with the cool climate, our aim is to produce fruit of the highest quality to make distinctive, characterful English wines in one of the most northerly vineyards in the UK.
Using inspiration drawn from the vineyards in Tuscany and the local Roman heritage, planting began near the family home in Upper Dunsforth, North Yorkshire in 2016. The land is now home to four grape varieties, all carefully selected because of their suitability to this northern location - Bacchus, Solaris, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir Précoce.
Four years on, in October 2019 we introduced our first harvest wines and in June 2020, we released the 2019 harvest.
In November 2020, we released our collection of limited edition sparkling wines from the spectacular 2018 harvest.
We are proud to say our wines have received awards from WineGB and IEWA including the prestigious Best Wine for Midlands and North from Wine GB for our Queen of the North Classic Cuvée.
From these small beginnings we now supply our award winning wines to events, host our own events and hire out our impressive vineyard building for your events. We also run popular tours and tastings and have a fabulous wine bar and terrace where we serve our range of sparkling and still wines.
